So this week the Russian survey vessel ‘Yantar’ was closely monitored as it sailed through the UK’s waters both in November of last year and recently this week. It’s reported that the vessel was mapping the UK’s critical underwater infastructure.
The Royal Navy, in a bold move, had one of it’s nuclear Submarines, HMS Astute surface close to the vessel to inform them over the radio that “We know what you’re doing and we will not sit by and idly watch.” This message had been enough to send the vessel packing for now…But it just goes to show the Russians are not sitting back and watching the world turn.
